Homesharing Means
Carefully screening and pairing a senior with a housemate over 21 years old. Each homeowner in a pair provides a private bedroom and shared common areas for their housemate. The housemate may provide some service to the homeowner in exchange for reduced or free rent.

For Homeowners

  • Turn extra space into useful space
  • Enjoy companionship
  • Get help with household chores
  • Feel safer in your own home

For Housemates

  • Live in a safe neighborhood
  • Take pride in a space of your own
  • Enjoy affordable housing
  • Help a person who needs you

Homesharing - Some things you should know before you apply

  • The Homesharing Program does not provide wages or salaries for live-in services.
  • Some Homeowners prefer that their Housemate pay a straight rental fee.
  • Some Homeowners want a combination of rent money and services.
  • Some Homeowners require all services and want no rent money.
  • Some Homeowners need so many service hours that they pay a wage.
  • Housemates cannot expect free or low rent in exchange for simply being in the home.
