Applying for Basic Food Assistance

Help applying for Basic Food Assistance (formerly known as food stamps) is now available through Senior Services Nutrition Program.

An older adult whose monthly gross income is at or below $1,805 for a one person household, may be eligible. Resource limits no longer apply to most people and there may be deductions for

-- child or elder care costs

-- rent, house payments, utilities, and

-- medical expenses if elderly or disabled

The application has been simplified and can be completed over the phone or online. If eligible, benefits range from $16 to $200 per month.

For more information and to complete an application over the phone, call the Senior Nutrition Program at 425.347.1229 or 800.824.2183.
