Help applying for Basic Food Assistance (formerly known as food stamps) is now available through Senior Services Nutrition Program.
An older adult whose monthly gross income is at or below $1,805 for a one person household, may be eligible. Resource limits no longer apply to most people and there may be deductions for
-- child or elder care costs
-- rent, house payments, utilities, and
-- medical expenses if elderly or disabled
The application has been simplified and can be completed over the phone or online. If eligible, benefits range from $16 to $200 per month.
